Photo Exhibition in Commemoration of Anna Politkovskaya
01.10.2007
On 7 October 2007, the first anniversary of Anna Politkovskaya’s murder, a memorial photo exhibition will be held in the city of Moscow, on Bolotnaya Square, between 11 am and 5 pm.
This one day outdoor exhibit will feature selected works by prominent photographers, including Valery Shekoldin, Oleg Smirnov, and other authors of photo reportages on Chechnya and Beslan, the places that were crucial for Politkovskaya’s writing.
The heroes of the exhibition are people of the Northern Caucasus, children and military servicemen, all those who were burned by war and terror. Those people were not among the characters of Politkovskaya’s articles but they could have become her protagonists.
The guests of the exhibition will also see some photographs from the archives of “Novaya Gazeta” and Amnesty International, including those of Anna Politkovskaya and the memorial actions held in a range of European cities on the wake of her murder.
